Frequently Asked Questions

Scheduling, Payments, & Policies

  • You may book an appointment online or by phone. I encourage my clients to book online, as it is the fastest method. Since I don’t have a receptionist, I often can’t answer my phone promptly if I’m in session or if it’s outside business hours.

** Please note that a credit card is required to reserve an appointment, however you are not charged for anything until after the appointment is completed.

  • I am by appointment only — sorry, no walk-ins.

Same day appointments are accepted, but not always possible. If your schedule allows it, I encourage booking in advance.

  • Without a credit card on file, missed/forgotten appointments are much more likely to occur. When someone doesn’t show up to their appointment, that means that I not only am unable to be compensated for that time that I specifically set aside for that client, but that I am also unable to offer that time to another client who might have wanted that spot. Not only that, but I also have to pay a booking fee for my shared office space if it’s less than 24 hours notice, regardless whether or not my client makes it to their appointment.

In a perfect world, I wouldn’t need to ask for it. Rest assured your information is encrypted and it can’t be viewed by anyone once it’s in my system, including me.

  • Nope! It’s just to reserve the appointment, however you are welcome to pay in cash or Zelle if you prefer.

  • I use Square for payment processing. It is a separate Point of Sale that is integrated into my booking software. Square is one of the most widely used PCI compliant Point of Sale systems for small businesses. When you enter your credit card information, is it automatically encrypted and can’t be viewed by anyone, including me.

You can read more about Square’s security features here.

  • A 24 hour notice is required in order to avoid a cancellation fee. If possible, you are welcome to send a friend in your place if you can’t make it to your appointment.

  • All sales are final. You are welcome to transfer any prepurchased massages to a friend for no additional cost.

  • Yes! I offer prenatal massage even during the first trimester. I have a prenatal pillow system specifically designed for prenatal massage that allows women to comfortably and safely lay on their stomach. My pregnant clients rave about it!

  • You probably caught me while I was with another client, or it was outside of my business hours. My phone is always on Do Not Disturb when I’m in session. If you would like a call back, please leave a voicemail, or send a text and I’ll return your message as soon as possible (typically within 24 hours).

  • Please arrive on time to your appointment. When you book an appointment, that time is specifically set aside for you — and the same can be said for clients whose appointments follow yours (who expect to be seen on time, especially when they arrive on time!). Your appointment will still end on time, and full payment will still be collected.

I’d rather you receive your full time, so please arrive on time.

  • Tips are never expected. Keep it and put it towards another massage!

Before, During, and After Your Massage

  • You may park in any of the covered parking spaces labeled “Khospace”. We have two additional spots on the west side of the building, labeled “guest” and “visitor” — those are also safe to park in.

If any of those spots are unavailable, we always have ample parking behind the building. It’s accessible from NE 1st St. The parking spots are labeled “Reserved” but because that parking lot belongs to the building, you are welcome to park in any of those spaces without fear of getting towed.

  • You will receive a code in your email to enter the building, which will automatically unlock the front door. I share an office with a team of chiropractors, mental health practitioners, and other wellness providers. Because there is no receptionist, this is how we keep our office safe while we are in session. Take the elevator up to the third floor and my office will be the first suite that you see (301).

  • Please let me know! You will never hurt my feelings if you need me to adjust the pressure. This is YOUR massage and you deserve pressure that is right for you. Keep in mind that I am here to help you, and I would be happy to make any adjustments to pressure so that you have a better experience.

  • Not rude at all! I get it — you want to turn your brain off for an hour. I’ll ask how the pressure is a few minutes into the session, and I’ll ask you how you’re feeling halfway through the session, but otherwise I’m totally cool with working in silence. It also helps me focus more on your session.

For anyone reading this who likes to chat during their session, fear not! I also love a good conversation. I won’t initiate conversation, but if you like to chat then it’s all good.

Regardless of your talking/no talking preference, I’m happy to respect it.

  • That’s a phrase that is often used in the massage industry that can sometimes seem confusing.

It simply means taking off however much clothing you are comfortable removing prior to getting onto the massage table.

For a Swedish/relaxation massage, most of my clients usually keep their undergarments on. Women typically remove their bra, however not all do.

Some people remove all clothing. This is advised if you have lower back pain that you want addressed, because waistbands often prevent access to lower back and hip muscles. I will never attempt to access any area that is covered by clothing — I consider this a boundary. If you are not comfortable removing your undergarments but still want glute and hip work, rest assured that I am very proficient in working over the sheets.

If you’re seeking a sports massage, it’s common for it to be done in activewear. This type of massage includes stretching, and is often performed without a sheet covering you.

  • I’ll review your intake form and we’ll have a brief consultation to discuss your goals for the session. Common goals include addressing back pain, headaches, and jaw clenching.

After discussing goals, limitations, and preferences, I’ll leave the room to give you privacy to disrobe. I’ll knock before coming back into the treatment room before beginning the session. You are encouraged to let me know of any discomfort, or if anything else (lighting, pressure, etc) needs to be changed.

After the session is complete, I’ll leave the room for you to get changed, and we’ll discuss any post-treatment care.

“Touchy” Topics

  • I’ve worked with just about every body type that you can imagine. Every body deserves a massage.

  • That’s the best compliment you could give me! Snore away.

  • It happens to the best of us! It just means you’re relaxed. No judgment here.

  • That’s a personal choice and it’s entirely up to you. I work with clients who have past trauma, and they feel that it helps if I’m aware of it. The details aren’t necessary, and will never be questioned.

  • My clinic is a safe space for all bodies, and is a judgment-free zone. You will always be addressed by your preferred pronouns.

  • “Can you work on my glutes?” is a non-weird way.

Trying to expose your glutes by pulling the sheets down is a weird way. Don’t make it weird.

  • Genitals and women’s breasts will never be touched. Localized acute injuries/skin conditions/surgical incisions will never be touched. All other areas that you don’t want to be touched, will never be touched.
